Angelelli, Taylor Win Rolex Race at Virginia International

ALTON, Va. (Oct. 4, 2004) -- Max Angelelli and Wayne Taylor piloted their Pontiac Riley to victory in the closest finish in Daytona Prototype class history when they won the VIR 400 Rolex Sports Car Series race at Virginia International Raceway.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Daytona Prototype class and has been since the class was founded.

Angelelli was in the winning car at the end and edged the Lexus Riley driven by Max Papis and Scott Pruett by .87 of a second. Angelelli took the lead on the 53rd lap of the 77-lap race.

Milka Duno and Andy Wallace co-drove their Pontiac Crawford to finish third.

With two races remaining in the 2004 season, Pruett and Papis share the lead in the drivers standings at 297 points. Taylor is next with 292. The final two races on the schedule will be held at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama and at California Speedway.
