Frisselles fast on Friday

Alton, VA (7 October 2005)-- The conditions were tricky on Friday at Virginia International Raceway as Burt and Brian Frisselle prepared for Sunday's VIR 400 on a damp track, but they had little effect on the young brother driving duo as they set the sixth quickest time of the day in the RX.Com BMW/Doran in practice with a 2:08.116-second lap of the 3.27-mile natural terrain road course. The brothers are looking forward the home race for their Synergy Racing team, as the duo are hoping to improve on their season-best finish of seventh. With a car that has tended to not show its hand until race time, the early pace of the two bodes well for their chance at a strong result on home turf.

"It was pretty wet out there still, so we only took a couple of laps each and the car was fast right out of the pits, so that was pretty encouraging," said Burt. "There were some things we wanted to try with our dry set-up that obviously we couldn't get to today, but it feels good to just do a handful of laps and be right on the pace."

The Synergy Racing squad elected to skip the morning practice session after heavy rain caused standing water to accumulate on the track, but the conditions improved in time for the one-hour practice session in the morning.

"I only did one flying lap, and the car was really good," said Brian. "These guys (Synergy Racing) are based here at VIR, so they know the place inside and out and it shows with how well the car was set up today. I like driving in the rain, but it doesn't matter to us what the weather is like because we were quick in the dry yesterday and fast again in the wet today, so we are looking good no matter what the conditions."

The race will be broadcast live on Speed Channel beginning at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday.
