Doran-Lista DORAN JE4 Toyota Fastest In Both Practice Sessions Friday at VIR

ALTON, Va., Oct. 3 -- The Doran-Lista DORAN JE4 Toyota #27 set the fastest times in both the morning and afternoon practice sessions Friday at Virginia International Raceway in preparation for Sunday's VIR 400 Grand Am Rolex Series race.

The event will be televised on a same-day, tape-delayed basis on the SPEED network starting from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Qualifying for the Daytona Prototype class will be held tomorrow afternoon.

Auberlen's fastest lap of the day was the one he ran in 1:46.351 seconds (110.690 mph) Friday morning. In the afternoon session he took just four laps to post a lap of 1:46.804 (110.221 mph) to top that session too.

The other DORAN JE4, the Chevy-powered #54 of Bell Motorsports, was second-fastest for the day with a 1:47.101 (109.915 mph), also set in the morning.

Both cars were designed and built at Doran Racing's headquarters in Lebanon, Ohio.

"The car is very, very consistent and it's very good to drive," Auberlen said after the afternoon session. "The team has made some technological advances that I'm very happy with. This team is so strong and Didier [Theys, the lead driver] is so strong that if I don't screw up, we should have a good run here."

"We worked on the balance today and the car is good," Theys said. "We tried something in the afternoon session that didn't work like we hoped, but we'll try something else tomorrow morning. Overall everything is fine."

"We worked on the engine mapping and the chassis set-up today," said team owner Kevin Doran. "It's still early in the weekend. I'm sure the other guys will pick up a little more yet. Hopefully we will too."
