Kodak EasyShare Team Ninth-Fastest in Practice at VIR Friday

ALTON, Va., Oct. 1 - The Bell Motorsports/Feeds the Need Racing team began the busiest month of the year for the Rolex series by practicing at Virginia International Raceway Friday in preparation for Sunday's VIR 400.

The team and drivers Terry Borcheller and Andy Pilgrim won this race last year from the pole enroute to the Daytona Prototype team championship and also the drivers' championship for Borcheller. Christian Fittipaldi is driving with Borcheller here this weekend.

The race will be broadcast live on SPEED at noon Eastern time Sunday.

In the Friday morning practice session the team posted the ninth-fastest time when the Kodak EasyShare DORAN JE4 Pontiac #54 was clocked in 1:48.162 (108.837 mph). In the afternoon the team experimented with a different set-up and its best lap in that session was a 1:49.445 (107.561 mph) for the 17-turn, 3.27-mile road course. That time was ninth-fastest for that session too.

Pilgrim's pole-winning time last October in the car was a 1:47.418 (109.591 mph).

The practice sessions were delayed an hour due to fog in the morning. It was overcast all day, but sunshine is expected for the weekend.

Driver quotes follow:

Terry Borcheller: "I only drove five laps so far. We seemed to back up a little this afternoon."

Christian Fittipaldi: "We had a good morning and a throw-away afternoon. We didn't really pick up any speed this afternoon, but now we know what not to do. We'll go back to the way we were this morning and make some other changes for tomorrow."
