Jason Workman Added to Matt Connolly Motorsports' BMW M3 for Miller 9-Hour
Atlanta, GA: Jason Workman has been added as a co-driver of the #21 Matt Connolly Motorsports BMW M3 for the Discount Tire Sunchaser 9-Hour at Miller Motorsprots Park on September 2. The Grand American Series endurance race is the season-ending race of the Rolex Sports Car Series for 2006. Workman's co-drivers are Brian O'Shaughnessy and Aaron Povoledo.
"This will be my first chance to get behind the wheel of the BMW M3 and I'm excited that the Matt Connolly team has given me this opportunity," said Workman. "The car has shown to be very competitive earlier this season and I'm hoping for a very good finish for this 9-hour endurance test."
Workman is a driver in increasing demand. In the last several racing seasons, Workman has driven in a variety of sports cars including Daytona prototypes, Grand-Am GT and Grand-Am Cup cars. His experience extends to open-wheel racing where he cut his competitive teeth in professional ranks before moving to the sports car arena with drives in both the American LeMans Series as well as the Grand American Series.
"I really enjoy sports car racing," added Workman. "The GT cars present a different set of challenges, but I enjoy the competitive nature of GT sports car racing. There are so many cars capable of winning the race and it is fun to be in the competitive mix. Lap after lap, there are plenty of cars challenging for position and it is what makes racing so much fun for a driver as well as the fans. I'm looking forward to it."
Workman scored driver championship points in one previous appearance in the 2006 Rolex GT Series with an 11th place finish at the Mid-Ohio round of the series. Workman has also competed in Grand Am Cup entries earlier in the 2006 season.
