TRG Looks to Regain Winning Form at Road America
When TRG's Steve Bertheau took a commanding victory at this year's Rolex 24 at Daytona in front of dozens of friends, family, and guests of Sargent & Lundy, the company featured prominently on the no. 67 machine, he proved just how well he performs under pressure. Headed in to this weekend's Rolex Sports Car Series 250 Driven by Visit Florida, local-hero Bertheau will have to deliver the same feat.
Residing and working near the Chicago area, just a few hours from this weekend's event at the historic Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, Bertheau will be cheered on by several hundred friends and guests from Sargent & Lundy who will be on site to see the event. In addition, the NASCAR Nationwide teams will be running this weekend as well, so the race track will have lots of fans on hand to watch the show.
With the long straights and high speed corners of the four-mile, 17-turn course favoring the characteristics of the no. 67 Sargent & Lundy / Emmons Coachworks Porsche GT3 Cup car, Steve and long-time teammate Spencer Pumpelly head in to this weekend's event as strong contenders for victory. With Porsche taking the most recent victory at Watkins Glen International, the cars are clearly in strong form, and when considering TRG's strong engineering, the incredible talent of Bertheau and Pumpelly, and the team's strong reputation to call brilliant race strategy, everyone is in high spirits headed in to this weekend's event.
For Team Owner Kevin Buckler, who will unfortunately miss the event to call strategy for his no. 71 NASCAR effort at his home track of Infineon Raceway, confidence is very strong headed in to the event.
"Road America is one of the greatest circuits in North America, I'm thrilled to have the team back," stated Buckler. "It's a historic track in a fantastic city, and it couldn’t be a better venue to host all of our guests from Sargent & Lundy. This should be a strong track for us. The track should play in to our favor, and with Steve getting stronger and stronger and his terrific performance here at our test and Spencer's rock-solid driving, I think this could be our weekend. Strategy is always critical here, but we’ve got some great guys in the box who will get it done, and I look forward to seeing the race unfold."
