Sports Cars will be hopping at DIS in November.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ¯ (Oct. 29, 2002) -- There's no doubt that Daytona International Speedway will be the place to be for sports car racing during the month of November.
Kicking off back-to-back sports car weekends at the "World Center of Racing" on Oct. 31-Nov. 3 is the Brumos Continental Historics.
The Speedway will be transformed into a sports car time machine during the Brumos Continental Historics as classic manufacturers such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lola, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Lotus, Mercedes-Benz, Spice, Mazda, Nissan, Chevrolet, Ford GT-40 and BMW take to the 3.56-mile road course for Historic Sportscar Racing, LTD.
Tickets to the Brumos Continental Historics are unique in the fact that they include exclusive paddock and garage admission. Another fan favorite activity of the Brumos Continental Historics weekend is the Wine & Cheese tasting, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, between 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and includes live jazz music and motorsports display.
The following weekend, Nov. 8-10, the Grand American Road Racing Series will pull into the Speedway with the second annual Grand American Finale, which features the season finales for both the Rolex Sports Car Series and the Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2:30 p.m., the Grand-Am Cup will settle its season with a six-hour finale while the Rolex Sports Car Series will cap off its season on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. with a three-hour finale.
Earlier in the weekend during the open testing, fans will finally get their long-awaited first look at the new Daytona Prototype.
The Daytona Prototype, which will be the featured class of the Rolex Sports Car Series beginning with the Feb. 1-2, 2003 Rolex 24 At Daytona, will undergo its first testing session during the open testing days on Nov. 6-7. The two test days are free and open to the public with access to the Oldfield Grandstand.
