England’s Oliver Gavin was leading the 50th running of the Rolex 24 after six hours at the Daytona International Speedway. Driving the Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP, Gavin lay less than four tenths of a second ahead of Alex Gurney in the Gainsco Bob Stallings Racing Corvette DP, which recovered the lap it lost to the leaders in the early part of the race.

Joey Hand (Ganassi Racing), Oswaldo Negri, Jr. (Michael Shank Racing), and Michael McDowell (Michael Shank) rounded out the top-five. Four time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti was sixth overall in a second Ganassi entry.

Daytona Prototypes held down the top 11 positions and all 11 of those cars were running on the same lap.

John Potter’s Magnus Racing Porsche sat first in the GT class and 12th overall. Second in class was the Stevenson Motorsport Camaro GT.R driven by Ronnie Bremer. The No. 23 Alex Job Racing Porsche lay third, followed by the No. 66 Racer’s Group Porsche and the Autohaus Camaro GT.R. The top seven GT cars were on the same lap.

The race has been slowed five times for 23 caution laps and featured eight different leaders.
