MARC-ANTOINE CAMIRAND TO JOIN SPIRIT OF DAYTONA RACING

The Spirit of Daytona is pleased to announce that, French Canadian, Marc- Antoine Camirand will co-pilot the Pontiac-powered Crawford DP this weekend for the Comp USA 200 at the Glen and for the remainder of the season. He drove the Spirit of Daytona DP in May at the Six Hours of Mont-Tremblant, where they placed 8th overall. Although this will only be Marc's second time racing with the Spirit of Daytona he has had plenty of time behind the wheel this season. Camirand has campaigned a Cadillac CTS in the GS class with co-driver, Normand Guindon. He has also turned many laps in the cockpit of F-1600 and F-2000 racecars. Last year, Camirand had three 1st place finishes between the Grand Am Cup Series and Molson Indy De Montreal Touring-Hankook Series. He was also nominated as Rookie of the Year in the Formula 2000 American Championship in 1998. Camirand quotes, " I am proud to be part of the Spirit of Daytona. It is definitely a career boost for me. I am also excited about racing at the Glen, it is one of my favorite tracks. I set a track record there in 2000 in the USF Series and I am looking forward to returning."

"Having Marc-Antoine come on board with us is a great opportunity for himself as a driver and for our team. His driving experience will help out tremendously with the rest of the season especially at Watkins Glen. Marc loves racing at the Glen, he knows the track well and has had fast lap times in the past. Overall Marc is a very reliable, fast, and consistent driver," says Troy Flis, team-owner/ manager. Camirand's driving experience will add to the momentum as the 09 DP powers its way throughout the rest of the season.

However as Camirand joins the Spirit of Daytona, Stephan Gregiore, co- driver of the 09 DP for the past year and a half will be leaving to pursue other opportunities. "Even though Stephan will be leaving the Spirit of Daytona, we still hope to work with him again in the future. He is a great racecar driver and he will be missed throughout our whole organization," quotes Doug Goad, co-driver/team owner.

With Camirand signing onto the Spirit of Daytona, he will be bringing his main sponsor Chemcraft International with him. Chemcraft International is a North American leader in the supply of unique, high performance and environmental friendly industrial coatings.

With a second opportunity to race at Watkins Glen this season, the Spirit of Daytona 09 Pontiac-powered Crawford is looking for a top-5 finish. The previous race finish at Barber (a delaminated fuel cell took the team out of the race early) has not dampened the team's sprits, just making them hungrier for a successful finish. The team's race performance at the Glen will be powered by new knowledge of the DP, track confidence, and an aggressive drive to win.

Troy Flis, team manager/owner, shares his thoughts about the 09 DP, "We have a pretty good handle on how the car will react to this track. We have been here plenty of times before and we have been racing on a lot of tracks set up similar to the Glen. Having Risto Koiv, our team engineer from OptimumG, to interpret the telemetry has really helped us understand the racecar's output and performance. We have been putting the pieces together for the DP's best performance and I think we will see it happen at this race."
