Limoges impresses in Glen qualifying debut

Watkins Glen, NY (7 July 07)- Valerie Limoges posted a strong qualifying performance Friday in her Watkins Glen debut, carding a 2:06.737-second lap in the Blackforest Motorsports USG Sheetrock/Ramset Tools Ford Mustang FR500C to take seventh on the grid for Saturday's Grand-Am KONI Challenge Supercuts 200 at the Glen.

The qualifying effort is the second best of the season for Limoges, who scored a pole position at Homestead Miami Speedway in an earlier round. Limoges will take the green flag for the three-hour race before turning over to co-driver and fellow Canadian Travis Walker to take to the finish.

"I'm happy because we've had some bad luck in the last few races," said Limoges. "I like this track, it's very fast and the Mustang is good in the high speed corners here."

Limoges' 2006 rookie KONI season gave her a lot of experience learning new tracks nearly every race meeting, something she put to use this weekend in her first laps at Watkins Glen. With both the ST and GS classes running concurrently on Saturday, the nearly sixty-car field will occupy a lot of space despite running on the full 3.4-mile long road course layout.

"Traffic is going to be interesting, but hopefully the ST guys keep an eye on their mirrors and everyone remembers there is three hours of racing to do today," said Limoges. "We have to get into a good rhythm at the start, and hopefully we can get some good points in the championship here this weekend."

The KONI Challenge Supercuts 200 at the Glen will go green at 3:30 PM ET, with Grand-Am.com bringing live timing and scoring as well as a live race report.
