LUX and HENZLER TO COMPETE FOR TAFEL RACING AT VIR
CUMMING, Ga. - As the 2006 Grand Am Cup series comes to a close at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia this weekend, Tafel Racing's Eric Lux of Buffalo, NY and Wolf Henzler of Germany are hoping to use their combined experience at the track to score the team's first victory in this series. The pair, who have raced together in the 175 Tafel Racing Rembrandt Charms Porsche 996 in the past two races, are coming off a second place finish last month at Miller Motorsports Park.
Lux, who attends college at Jacksonville University in Florida, won the first race of the season in the 44 Team Sahlen Rembrandt Charms/GOJO/Hawk Porsche 996 and wants to see the view from the podium again on Saturday. He is well acquainted with the track, having raced there in 2005, where he finished on the podium in HSR, and returning earlier in this season with the Rolex series.
"I am eager to return to VIR for the six hour race. After the performance that we were able to demonstrate last race at VIR for the 175 car's debut, I am confident that we will be a top car this weekend. Since the 175 car made its debut it has been fast and up front each race. Bad luck has taken us out of the chase this year; however, Wolf and I will be driving for a win this race. Nothing would mean more to me than to end the 2006 season by taking home a win for Tafel Racing, after all of their efforts to provide a me with a great race car."
Co-driver Henzler is hoping this weekend will enable them to improve on their second place finish last time out. "I am looking forward to do the GS race, because it is a six hour race and this car was very fast when they raced there earlier this year." Henzler also competed at VIR earlier this season in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve, driving with Robin Liddell of Scotland in the 72 Tafel Racing NEC Porsche GT3 Cup. They finished first in the qualifying race and fourth overall.
Lux and Henzler have both had a great 2006 season in the Rolex series. Henzler and Liddell finished second in GT points and Lux finished fourth.
