Wheel Enhancement, EMC Mechanical named sponsors of Grand-Am Cup GS season finale at VIR
Alton, Va. (September 22) -- Wheel Enhancement and EMC Mechanical will serve as title sponsors of the Grand-Am Cup Series six-hour Grand Sport race at VIRginia International Raceway, October 6-8. The Wheel Enhancement GS Enduro presented by EMC Mechanical is the 2006 Grand-Am Cup season finale and will be the deciding factor in its tightly fought GS points race.
The Wheel Enhancement GS Enduro presented by EMC Mechanical is not the first foray into the Grand-Am Cup Series for the two companies. Both are major sponsors of Synergy Racing, which is based at the VIR Raceplex Industrial Park, and campaign the No. 81 Wheel Enhancement Porsche 997 of Patrick Long and Brent Martini in the GS class.
With the team they support embroiled in the fight for both the driver and team championships in the GS class, Wheel Enhancement and EMC Mechanical have chosen to further support the team and series as sponsors of the season-ending race on the team's home track of VIR.
"We're pleased that Wheel Enhancement and EMC Mechanical have chosen to sponsor the Grand-Am Cup GS season finale at VIR," said Josh Lief, VIR general manager. "We anticipate the Wheel Enhancement GS Enduro presented by EMC Mechanical will be an exciting finish in a hard-fought points race, and I know Wheel Enhancement and EMC Mechanical are expecting the same--with hopes that their Synergy-sponsored entry will be on top.
"Of course, as the hosting track we are supposed to be unbiased, but with Synergy being a longtime member of the VIR family and the team's sponsors choosing to also sponsor this event, you'll probably catch us smiling a little wider when the Synergy Porsches do well here."
