Rum Bum Racing Feeling Good Ahead of Qualifying at Miller Motorsports Park

TOOELE, Utah, 10 September - After opening up the weekend with a series of fast laps on the unofficial charts in Thursday's test sessions, the No 13 Rum Bum Racing BMW M3 driven by Nick Longhi and Matt Plumb ended the second practice ahead of qualifying for the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge tomorrow at Miller Motorsports Park with the third best time.

The pair spent the better parts of both of today's 40-minute practices trying a variety of set ups on the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing M3, which will aim for a third consecutive GRAND-AM podium finish on Saturday afternoon.

With nearly a 30-degree difference in track temperature between the morning session and the afternoon session, the Rum Bum Racing crew had a number of variables to contend with, including a completely 'green' track in the morning and a 'rubbered-in' track in the afternoon.

After making and testing several different set up combinations, both driver's feel that they've landed on something that will work in their favor come qualifying tomorrow morning at 8:55 AM for the Grand Sport (GS) Class.

"I think we've got a good shot at the pole," said Plumb after getting out of the car in the afternoon session. "The track was really greasy and there was a big difference in the grip level from the morning to the afternoon. But, taking what we've learned from both sessions and with the track temperature likely to be cool again in the morning, I believe we've found something that we can optimize for a good lap tomorrow."

Longhi will shoulder the responsibility for qualifying the No.13 machine and looks to improve by one place on his front row starting position from the last round at Trios Rivieres, in which the team took their second victory of the season.
