Burrows uses last lap magic to take front row spot in qualifying
(Tooele, UT) 13 September 07-- Adam Burrows knew he had just one last lap to go for it in the closing moments of qualifying for Friday's Grand-Am KONI Challenge race at Miller Motorsports Park, and the Connecticut resident made the most of it, ripping off a fast lap time of 3:18.622-seconds to score second on the ST class grid in the Turner Motorsport BMW 330i.
Burrows is hoping the starting spot proves useful as he and co-driver Trevor Hopwood look to grow their championship points lead in the penultimate round of the 2007 KONI Challenge season.
"Will (Turner) was on the radio with me every lap so I knew where I was and how much time I had to work with," said Burrows. "The car was good but we got a little loose midway through the session so I let the tires cool off a bit and fortunately, I had one more lap to work with so we made the most of it."
That the fast last time didn't score Burrows yet another KONI pole didn't discourage the rookie, as he knows that there is a lot of racing yet to do on Friday.
"Before the session, we talked a lot about who would qualify the car, and in the end we decided to stick with what's been working for us so far," said Burrows. "Working with a team with championship experience like Turner is obviously a big help and we are focused on getting out of here with as many points as possible."
The KONI event will take the green flag at 3:00 local time on Friday. Look for live timing as well as information about the Speed Channel broadcast at:
