3 New E46 330i Sedans For ST Class
AMESBURY, MA - 01/14/2004 - Turner Motorsport announces today their full assault on the 2004 Grand Am Cup season with a trio of BMW 330i 4-door Sedans. Turner Motorsport has raced the past six seasons in SCCA World Challenge with nine wins and eighty-six top ten finishes culminating in the 2003 Touring Car Driver's Championship. The team plans a full-season offensive in Grand Am Cup's Sport Touring category starting with the season-opener at Daytona, January 29, 2004.
Turner Motorsport pilots Bill Auberlen and Will Turner finished first and third, respectively, in the 2003 Speed World Challenge Touring Car Championship. Collectively, the team scored four wins, fifteen top five finishes, four pole positions, and seven fastest laps en route to BMW's second Manufacturer's Title in three years.
The 2004 Turner Motorsport line-up features drivers with strong and victorious careers in BMWs. Will Turner is the team owner and has amassed three wins and 43 top ten finishes in six years of Touring Car racing. Turner's co-driver will be Don Salama. Don has raced a vast array of BMWs over his career with five wins and 17 podium finishes in the past four years. Salama raced with Turner Motorsport in 2000 and 2001. Steve Pfeffer joins the team. He has five wins and 13 top five finishes in professional racing since 1996. The rest of the driver roster will be announced at a later date.
Three 2004 330i 4-door Sedans are being meticulously prepared for the 2004 effort. The in-house team consists of professionals with a wide range of experience building, preparing, and racing BMWs.
Team owner, Will Turner: "Grand Am Cup is a place that we want to be in 2004. Our primary focus, like in any of our racing efforts, is to win the Championship for Turner Motorsport and for BMW. I realize that this will not be easy - we have our work cut out for us, as the competition in Grand Am Cup is fierce. I like the endurance format that Grand Am has to offer and I look forward to racing at legendary tracks like Daytona and Watkins Glen. We have a very talented driver line up this year - I am fortunate to be racing with these guys. The combination of my experienced co-drivers, my crew's preparation abilities and the strong platform of the BMW 330i will assist us in the hunt for the championship"
