Camirand looking to break all-time win record at Trois-Riveres as Cosmo pulls double-duty

13 August 2008 --With an established KONI Challenge race winner being joined by one of the event's most successful drivers, Next Generation Motorsports is anxious to go racing this weekend at the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres for round seven of the Grand-Am KONI Challenge season. With a two car team entry that will feature Guy Cosmo and Marc Camirand in the No. 128 Next Generation Motorsports BMW 330 and a second entry with the No. 127 being piloted by Stephane Roy, and Guy Cosmo, who will be pulling double-duty on Saturday afternoon. The team is looking forward to building on another top ten finish in the last race at Iowa, where Cosmo and Shane Lewis finished seventh.

"Marc (Camirand) is going for the record for race wins at Trois Rivieres, so hopefully we can help him get in the record books this weekend," said Next Generation Motorsports team owner Jeffrey Bock. "I'm happy that Stephane is able to join us, as now we have two Canadian drivers with great track knowledge to help the team get a great result. We had a solid weekend in Iowa with Marko and Kevin York finishing fifteenth and Guy and Shane in seventh, so that's something we just want to build on again this weekend. We have a lot going on and we've been flat out upgrading our program for the future, and hopefully we can get back in the winners circle again this weekend. The Grand Prix takes smarts and speed, and both Next Generation Motorsports cars should do well come race time on Saturday."

"I am really excited about the Trois-Rivières KONI race for many reasons," said Camirand, who has a large following in his home event. "This is a tough road course, it's tight and there is no room for mistakes. This is my home track, I live a half an hour from the Trois-Rivières and my dad owns a BMW shop in the area so I am familiar with the brand as well. Also, I know Guy well from teaming with him in the Daytona Prototypes and we have the same driving style and both know the track."

"This is a great way to spend an off weekend, to be racing at the Grand Prix du Trois Rivieres," said Cosmo. "The event is huge, and the fans are awesome. To be racing with a rock star like Marc is only going to make things that much better for us. I'm really excited to be racing both cars this weekend, hopefully I can run 1-2 at the end of the race! It is going to be a fun challenge and I'm looking forward to it. We had a solid car at Iowa and brought it home with a solid finish, but we're hoping to break into the top five or a podium would be fantastic. I want to thank Jeffrey (Bock) for inviting me and Marc to do this because I think it's going to be a blast and hopefully we can help Marc with his win total!"
