Travis Walker takes lead role in top flight Touring car team!
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO Travis Walker, an 18-year old race driver from Mississauga Ontario has announced he will join Kensai Racing for 2005. "It's really thrilling to be offered a seat on this team," Walker said. "Kensai Racing is a top team, with great people and equipment. I am really happy to be driving for them." Walker is scheduled to drive Kensai Racing's new Acura RSX Type S in the FAQ Touring Hankook Championship in Quebec and will compete in several Grand-Am Cup races in the same car.
Ray Lee, Team Manager and Crew Chief for Kensai Racing is happy to have the dynamic young driver join their team. "Having Travis is a great addition to the Kensai Racing team. He had a great rookie season in Honda Michelin, along with a successful karting career. I think he has a bright future ahead of him," Lee said.
"It's hard to find good young talent. I think he's a great fit with the team, he will bring youthfulness to our veteran driver lineup," Lee added.
Walker is confident that he can win races in 2005, and Kensai is equally as confident as Lee pointed out. "Our goals are for him to win races in the FAQ Hankook Touring Championship. He's heading to this series as the #1 driver for the Kensai Racing team. I am very confident we have driver, the team, and the car package to be successful in winning races in Quebec. As for Grand-Am Cup, Travis will run in a least three races this year, possibly more. I think the car will be competitive and possibly contending to win, but we understand this is a learning year for both the team and driver. We're looking at 2006 to run the entire season of Grand-Am Cup."
Walker also welcomed back returning sponsors Loft Transportation and Signs Alive, both of whom were with him in Honda Michelin last year. New this year, is the addition of Car Magic and Fabulous Savings as associate sponsors. ""I am happy to have Loft Transportation and Signs Alive back again this year, along with my two new sponsors, Car Magic and Fabulous Savings," Walker said. "Car Magic offers one stop shopping for all your automotive needs, from sales to service to detailing. Fabulous Savings is the one place to go to get the most expertise in search engine optimization."
Walker is anxious to sit in the new Kensai Racing RSX Type S for the first time. "This is the same platform as the Civic I drove last year," Walker said. "But it has double the power and fully adjustable suspension I can't wait."
