8/28/06 -- Atlanta, GA -- Todd Lamb has switched to BMW power and will drive a BMW Z4 for Performance Motorsports in the Grand Am Cup event at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah on September 1, 2006.
Lamb first entered Grand Am Cup competition at the Mid Ohio round and has been co-driving with Dave Thilenius for a best finish of sixth at Barber Motorsports Park. Due to some unexpected issues, the Chevy Cobalt the pair had been driving will not be at Miller, forcing Lamb to make a difficult last minute decision to find a competitive ride.
Lamb heads to Utah with lofty goals for his third race of the season. He missed Trois Riveries due to a prior commitment for 2Wheel Tuner, the magazine that his company publishes. The magazine was hosting a custom sportbike show at the AMA Superbike race with the Eric and Ben Bostrom at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. 2Wheel Tuner has agreed to make the switch and will sponsor the BMW program.
"After talking with numerous teams about driving ST, GS, and GT, it boiled down to the best possible opportunity to win a race. The Z4 has been on the ST podium several times in 2006, and I believe it has the potential to win. I'm looking forward to getting back in a rear-wheel drive car - my daily driver is a M3 so I'm a bit of a BMW enthusiast. Thanks to 2Wheel Tuner and Jason Potter for the opportunity; I'm looking forward to the race," said Lamb.
