TC Kline Racing to race new BMW Z4 3.0 in Grand Am Cup.
TC signs top drivers to challenge for Grand Am Cup STI championship.
TC Kline racing has announced that they will contest two BMW Z4s in Grand Am Cup Sport Touring I class for the full 2003 season. Team owner TC Kline stated "we believe the new BMW Z4 to be the most exciting car we could choose to race in the GAC STI class and we are eager to have the opportunity to compete with the roadster there."
Driving for TC Kline Racing will be Pro drivers Don Salama and Steve Pfeffer in the #12 Z4 and top regular Grand Am Cup competitors Branson Patch and David Tuaty in the #92 Z4. Both Don Salama and Steve Pfeffer are multiple time World Challenge and GAC winners and have many years of experience racing BMWs in professional series. "I am extremely excited about the team that we have put together. In addition to the fact that TC Kline has won 9 championships in 15 years, I am teamed with Steve who is a top Pro driver and Bondurant instructor and although we are driving a car that is unproven on the track, on paper it should be competitive" says Don Salama. Branson and David also have had a competitive history in Grand Am Cup with numerous wins and podiums on their resumes. "It is very exciting to join a team that knows how to win championships. I am teamed with an excellent co-driver and having a two car team greatly improves our development prospects for these new cars" says Branson.
TC Kline is building two silver 3.0 liter 6 speed Z4 convertibles to full GAC STI specs. "These cars came off the assembly line on December first in Spartanburg SC" says TC. "Although these cars have never been raced, a lot of components are already race proven. The drive train and suspension are identical to the E46 3 series BMW chassis that I have been racing in World Challenge for the last 3 seasons"
The team will be debuting the two cars at the season opener in Daytona at the end of January.
