Synergy Racing Takes 22nd in Santo Domingo at Miller Grand-Am Cup 200

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (March 13, 2005) -- In its first-ever race in the Caribbean, Synergy Racing took 22nd place in the Miller Grand-Am Cup 200 at Las Americas Autodromo in Santo Domingo.

Brent Martini, of Laguna Seca, Calif., started the No. 81 Porsche 997 in the 26th position on the starting grid of 36 entries. Martini was running 22nd overall when a full-course caution was brought out by race officials on lap 53 due to loss of electrical power at the track. Martini took advantage of the yellow and brought the Synergy Racing Porsche into the pits to hand the controls over to co-driver Kelly Collins, of Newport Beach, Calif.

At the conclusion of the 40-minute caution, the field returned to racing. Green-flag conditions continued for the remainder of the race, and Collins maintained the No. 81 Porsche in the 22nd position to take the checkered flag.

Race officials announced that due to the loss of power, race results are only provisional until all scoring is reviewed and verified.

Synergy Racing will take to the track next at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif., April 1-3. Synergy Racing will field entries in both the Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand-Am Cup Series at the Grand American 400 event weekend.
