The Car Doctor, Ryan Pilla, Chief Auto Expert to the Stars, signs with TEAM BGB to drive a Porsche 996 for the 2006 Grand American Road Racing Series Championship.
April 4, 2006 East Hampton, New York -- After growing up with a wrench in his hand and working diligently to create the premier automotive enterprise in the Hamptons that caters to Hollywood Stars called "The Car Doctor," Ryan Pilla is set to drive for the Porsche backed team of BGB Motorsports in Daytona Beach Florida.
Ryan has worked over the past 20 years developing a serious following for his Porsche knowledge and experience. He is the owner of The Car Doctor, an automotive salon that specializes in Porsche high performance modifications as well as restorations and on going maintainence. His client list is impressive as the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Alec Baldwin, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Charlize Theron, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ron Pearlman, and a host of other A-List celebrities that trust their prized possessions to the man know as "The Doc."
The Car Doctor began as a business going door to door fixing and detailing the cars of the stars in the driveways of their homes. Over time the business grew and the list of "Doctor" fans became a Rolodex any agent would love to get their hands on. The key for the business was Ryan's passion for performance. Specifically, his laser like focus on Porsche performance is what brought more and more clients to his front door. His passion for high performance provided a platform for The Car Doctor to become an expert in Ferrari, BMW, and Mercedes as well over the 20 years the Car Doctor has been operating.
At the 2006 Daytona 250, the opening race of the Grand American Road Racing Series, Ryan put his car on the pole to lead the 88 car field to the green flag in his very first start of the series. Ironically, Ryan stole the pole from Team BGB Motorsports and following the opening race of the season began talks with Team BGB to join their Porsche run enterprise.
Ryan, via the phone from The Car Doctor headquarters in Bridgehampton, "Porsche has been a part of my life for over 20 years. Porsche is a mark that I have grown up with and has provided me with a ton of opportunity. I have raced a number of different makes over the years but never have had the opportunity to race a Porsche in competition. To be able to get behind the wheel of the Porsche 996 in Grand American Road Racing will be a real thrill. Team BGB has shown they have a first class Porsche operation and their cars are extremely quick and well prepared. John Moore and John Tecce have spend a number of years developing a motorsports program that truly is one of the best in the business. The fact that their team is a Porsche program is very special to me. I am very excited to bring my experience to this team as I have been around the mark for my whole life. It will be a real pleasure to partner with an organization who has the sole focus on winning a championship and growing their program into the Rolex Series."
Ryan has raced in Speed World Challenge and holds the track record in a Pro Spec Miata at Lime Rock. Ryan is a 2-time winner of the Mohegan Sun Grand Prix and has multiple professional wins.
Ryan has signed on with Team BGB to race the balance of the 9-race season in the Porsche 996.
