The German Elves Were Busy Making Randy's Toys
There was no coal in Randy's stocking this year. The upcoming season promises to be an exciting and busy one for Randy with a mix of old and new. Randy will return to SCCA World Challenge to defend his 2007 GT championship with his K-PAX/3R Racing Porsche GT3. His teammate will be continue to be road racing legend Michael Galati.
"PAX/3R is one of the most well-run teams of which I've had the good fortune to be a part of. They always make me look good, what a bonus! Engineer Will Moody takes the fine Porsche 911 package, and develops it even further. I also believe World Challenge is a great series for the driver. One driver, one class, per race. I love the spotlight!"
In an exciting change of pace, Randy is saying goodbye to his Tri-Point Motorsports Mazda with fond memories and is moving to APR Motorsports to drive one of their three Volkswagen GTIs in the 2008 Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series Street Tuner class. This is a homecoming for Randy to both Grand-AM and to Volkswagen.
"I have worked with the guys at APR for years in development and testing, and as soon as I heard they were founding a race team, I wanted in," Randy said. "I started my professional racing career in 1985 in a Volkswagen Golf in the Volkswagen Cup, so this opportunity brings me full circle and gives me an opportunity to relive a lot of great memories".
Joining Randy on the team are Ian Baas, a Porsche young gun and Grand-Am and World Challenge driver and Mark White who had great success in the Rolex GT in 2007. The race team will be run by Crew Chief Jeff Mishtawy, who came to APR from the successful Team Cobalt California KONI Challenge Series team. APR, LLC, is the world's leading Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche performance engineering firm and promises to be a perfect fit for Randy.
Starting the new year off with a bang, Randy will join the #57 Stevenson Motorsports Pontiac GXP.R in the Rolex 24 hour at Daytona on January 26 and 27. Randy will be joined by regular drivers Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis. As many may know, Randy is a two time winner in this premier event of the American road racing season. Randy is also planning to run select Rolex GT races with Mike Levitas and the TPC Racing Porsche.
A happy and healthy New Year to all our friends at RandyPobst.com. Randy plans on a fast and safe 2008 with lots of podiums and fine racing adventures!
