Explosive Entry Growth Continues with Impressive Line-Up

The pre-entry list for this weekend's Food City 250 has 42 cars slated to compete in round three of the Rolex Sports Car Series. The impressive line-up is nearly three times the number on last year's pre-entry list for the race, continuing the explosive growth experienced by the Rolex Series this season.

Eighteen Daytona Prototypes are on tap for the 250-mile race under the lights Saturday night, more than four times the number of Daytona Prototypes at last year's event. Among the strong contingent is Hurley Haywood and JC France, who will try to defend last year's win in the Brumos Racing No. 59 Porsche Fabcar.

Kyle Petty Returns to Rolex Series for Food City 250

Kyle Petty will return to the Rolex Sports Car Series this weekend, competing in the Food City 250. The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver will rejoin Gunnar Racing, this time at the wheel of the No. 45 Porsche GT3 RS.

"It's no secret that I love racing in the Rolex Series," Petty said. "I try to do it every chance I get, and with NEXTEL Cup being off that weekend, I jumped at the chance to get back in a sports car. I'm looking forward to running at Phoenix, because in the past I've only been able to race with the Series at Daytona and Watkins Glen. Those tracks have a lot more straightaways and sweeping turns, but Phoenix is much shorter and a lot tighter. It should be a fun track to learn and make things pretty exciting come race time."

Driver's Vacation Photos to Grace Sides of Car in Food City 250

Most people who go to Florida for spring break come back with vacation photos to share with their family and friends. Not many people can have his or her vacation shots broadcast on TV. The Kodak EasyShare Bell Motorsports No. 54 Pontiac Doran drivers can.

Forest Barber plans to share at least one of his spring break photos with everyone who watches SPEED Channel's coverage of the Food City 250 on Saturday night. The photos will be displayed in the LCD screens of the Kodak EasyShare camera decals that grace the sides of the No. 54 Pontiac Doran that Barber and Terry Borcheller will drive in the 250-mile race.

Theys Hikes Camelback as Part of His Training

Hikers on the trails of Camelback Mountain probably do not realize it, but they have something in common with many drivers in the Rolex Sports Car Series that will be racing in the Food City 250 Saturday night. At one time or another, it is very likely they have all been passed by Didier Theys. The driver of the Doran-Lista Racing No. 27 Lexus Doran lives in Scottsdale and hikes those trails regularly as part of his training regimen.
