New Nissan 350Z to challenge for Grand Am Cup title.

Cincinnati, Ohio (November 22, 2002) Cincinnati based Schuitemaker Motorsports will campaign a new Nissan 350Z in the 2003 Grand American Cup Series. The car, which tested at Daytona during the Grand Am test days in early November, is the first new Z in race form to see track time in the U.S. The car will compete in the Grand Sport II class.

Regarding running the new Z car in the Cup series, team owner Michiel Schuitemaker said "Nissan and the Z have a long history in racing. The new 350Z gives us an excellent platform on which to build. Running a basically stock car (with the exception of a roll cage and racing tires) our test sessions at Daytona were very encouraging. The car will be very competitive. Additionally, the Grand Am Cup is a great series to showcase the 350's performance."

The car will be run out of Wright Tuning, in Cincinnati. Shop owner John Wright will be crew chief and team manager. Wright brings over nine years of crew chief experience to the team, including: World Challenge, IMSA, Grand Am and the 24 Hours of LeMans.

Drivers will be team owner Michiel Schuitemaker and fellow Cincinnatian, BJ Zacharias, both veteran Grand Am competitors.
