Devin Cates Returns to Co-Drive #62 Camaro
RICHMOND, VA (June 16, 2010) - The #62 Mitchum Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for this weekend's round of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. After a short break from the track following back-to-back races at Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen, the team is ready to hit the track once again.
Team principle Chris Mitchum is looking forward to a strong showing at Mid-Ohio this weekend. "We had a good run going at Watkins Glen before our bumper let go. We have had time to address that as well as implement some of the improvements allowed by GRAND-AM," said Mitchum. "With the pace Joey (Atterbury) showed for the first hour at the Glen I fully expect a strong performance this weekend."
Joining Joey Atterbury behind the wheel this weekend is regular co-driver, Devin Cates, who is back after taking a couple weeks off to complete his college course work at JMU. The last time Cates raced at Mid-Ohio he earned pole in his VW TDI Cup car, so expect to see Cates looking for continued success this weekend. "I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the Camaro again. The car has continued to improve all season and I am anxious to get on track with Joey again" noted Cates.
Atterbury, who has competed in all six rounds of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge this season, has really proven his driving capabilities. His dramatic drive from 13th to 5th position on lap one at the Glen showed the rest of the field he is a driver to watch. "Every week the car gets better and I get more and more comfortable in it", said Atterbury. "Running up front at the Glen showed the rest of the field the Camaros are here to race. Expect to see the black and yellow Camaro toward the front this weekend."
