Long-time Rolex Sports Car Series Organization Adds Continental Tire Challenge Support

Columbus, OH (25 August 2010)- With wins in the 2006 and 2008 Rolex Sports Car Series events at Miller Motorsports Park, Michael Shank Racing has quickly established itself as the team to beat at the Salt Lake City area facility.

As GRAND-AM prepares to close the 2010 season out at Miller Motorsports Park once again this year, Michael Shank Racing will have an additional opportunity for success as Finlay Motorsports has tabbed the Columbus-based organization to provide support for the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race set for September 11 following the Rolex Sports Car Series season-finale.

Finlay Motorsport with MSR will see drivers Rob Finlay and Steve Cameron make a debut start with the Ford Mustang Boss 302R package, with Michael Shank Racing team personnel providing on-event support, logistics, and over-the-wall pit service on race day.

Michael Shank Racing, which moved to Ford power in advance of the 2008 season and opened the year with both team cars on the front row of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, has continued to grow since joining the GRAND-AM paddock and the partnership with Finlay marks a new category of operation for the team, which was originally formed in support of team owner Mike Shank's own successful efforts as a driver.

"We've been paying close attention to the Continental Tire Series for quite some time, and when this opportunity developed, it was something we wanted to make the most of," said team owner Mike Shank. "We've known Steve (Cameron) since the Atlantic days and of course Rob has raced in GRAND-AM for quite some time so we are all familiar with one another and there is a comfort level already in place. This is a new opportunity for my team and we are looking forward to Miller. We are proud of what we've been able to do since moving to Ford power, and getting the chance to get another Ford into victory lane with the Mustang is something that we're all very motivated about."

Cameron and Finlay, who also has an extensive record of Daytona Prototype competition on his racing resume, have been making select starts with a variety of machines through the 2010 season, but are looking forward to moving to the newest offering from Ford Racing as the duo make the move to the Ford Mustang Boss 302R.

"We've known Mike for a long time, and his organization has an excellent reputation so we are excited to be working together," said Finlay. "For us, this made a great deal of sense to team with Mike (Shank). We have experience racing a Ford Mustang and are very much looking forward to getting into the new one at Miller. With Shank having the relationship that he does with Ford, that made this collaboration even more attractive to us. Multimatic really went the extra mile to have the Mobile-Shop.com Mustang ready for us in time for the race, so we are very appreciative of the effort they put in. Hopefully we have a smooth weekend at Miller and we can arrive in Daytona ready to go next year."
