The Meyer Motorsports Koni Sports Car Challenge team took advantage of the 8 hour NASA Road Atlanta race to prepare for the season finale' 6 hour at VIR. "I know it's a long 9 months away, however we needed to test the longevity of our brakes, tires and other mechanicals for the long 6 hour VIR event and the 8 hour proved to be a perfect test. The car performed flawlessly and we finished 3rd overall and 2nd in class. The spec Hoosier tire and Hawk brakes proved to be very durable. 2008 was a tough season for our team in Koni. We experienced numerous engine failures and our crew spent more time swapping engines than crossing the checkered. It was only after our first season in Grand-Am that our cars revealed their true Mazda durability said Eric Meyer, team owner and driver. Finishing 3rd overall and having zero failures during 8 hours of punishment was an overdue reward for the entire team".

Three out of four drivers for the upcoming year received hours of seat time this past weekend. Brian Domont, a local and regional Champion in Mazda Spec Miata drove our Mazda RX8 for the first time and was incredibly fast. Brian will drive 4 events for Meyer Motorsports in 2009 in Koni ST and resides in the Chicago area.

Meyer Motorsports intends to run two Mazda RX8s for the entire season in the Koni Sports Car Challenge Series.
