McDowell & Finlay Shake Down New M3
January 4, 2005 - Charlotte, North Carolina - Michael McDowell and Rob Finlay spent this past Monday shaking down Finlay Motorsports' new BMW M3 at Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, Georgia. "Despite this being the first outing for the new car, the car and team worked very well enabling the team to get some good work done," said Crew Chief Bill Fingerlow.
Fall Line Motorsports built the car for Finlay Motorsports. The car will be campaigned in the 2005 Grand-Am Cup Series in the GS class. Cameron Motorsports Management will oversee this operation in addition to the Daytona Prototype effort which McDowell and Finlay Motorsports are to compete in this season under the Ten Motorsports banner.
"The test went very well," said McDowell, "Rob has come a long way in the past year, from being a newcomer in the sport to preparing for one of the most prestigious series in the country." McDowell has been personally working to help Finlay with his driver development and it seams to be paying off. They have spent a lot of time over the past months, testing in a Porsche 996 at Roebling Road and other east coast tracks.
McDowell and Finlay will be back home for a couple of days before heading to the annual Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Test Days at Daytona International Speedway this weekend in preparation for February's 43rd Rolex 24 At Daytona.
