Turner Takes Pole Position at Lime Rock Park
Salama gets it right once again as team kicks off big weekend featuring 200th race start
28 May 2010--Turner Motorsport is celebrating making its 200th professional race start this weekend at Lime Rock Park, and the event got off to a good start as Don Salama posted the fastest lap of the day in qualifying with the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW 328i in the Street Turner (ST) Class. Salama will start the 2.5-hour race on Saturday morning before turning the controls over to co-driver Will Turner to take to the finish.
"Will said he won't let me go home unless we win!" joked Salama, who has won two of the last three races that he has run in Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge competition. "Will and I grew up at this track, so we know every inch of it. Here, it's so difficult to pass, and I don't think we have the straight line speed, so strategy plays a major part, and the best place to be for that is starting up front."
Peddling hard and keeping the car up front won't be the only thing Salama will have on his mind on Saturday, as he will also call the team strategy from inside the car before taking to the pit stand following his stint.
There will be three chances at victory for the home team on Saturday, as Bill Auberlen and Paul Dalla Lana will share the No. 96 BMW M3 H&R Springs/ Stop Tech Brakes and start the Grand Sport (GS) race from the sixth row.
Looking to erase the one-point deficit they have in the team championship standings and go two for two with race victories will be Joey Hand and Turner Motorsport driver Michael Marsal in the No. 97 Borla exhaust / Motul Lubricants BMW M3. The No. 97 will look to move up early from 16th on the starting grid.
Turner Motorsport will not only benefit from long-running relationships with top talents like Hand and Auberlen, but TMS will also once again enjoy partnership support from a long-held group of sponsors, including H&R Springs, Stoptech Brakes, Motul Lubricants, Borla Performance Industries, Pagid Brake Pads, and Piloti Shoes.
