Bill Fenton Motorsports Sets Sights on Lime Rock Podium
May 23, 2007 - LAKEVILLE, Conn. - The KONI Challenge Series will be close to the Bill Fenton Motorsports shop in Keene, New Hampshire this weekend for round five at Lime Rock Park, and the Street Tuner team will be aiming for a home track victory.
The two rounds that Bill Fenton Motorsports has competed in so far this season have been successes - for half of the team, anyway. The No. 27 Acura RSX-S of Todd Lamb and Dave Thilenius took fourth during the opener at Daytona, thanks to a last-minute pass by Lamb. The team's No. 29 Acura, though, had mechanical problems early in the weekend that prevented the car from starting the race.
During round two at Homestead, Bill Fenton and Bob Beede got on the podium with a third-place finish in the No. 29, but Lamb and Thilenius suffered a broken throttle cable while leading the race.
Now the team is not only aiming for victory, but for top finishes for both of their Acuras. Fenton and Beede set a precedent last year by finishing third at Lime Rock, and they are no strangers to the top step of the podium in Connecticut.
It will be the first time that Lamb and Thilenius have driven at Lime Rock together, but given their record so far this season, that is unlikely to slow them down. Their performances at Daytona and Homestead - both new tracks for the drivers - prove that they know how to find the fast line around the track with minimal practice time.
"I know Lime Rock has a lot of nuances, even though it's a relatively short layout, but I'm confident we can learn it and be on pace," commented Lamb. "The team has plenty of experience there for us to tap into, and that will give us a head start."
Southern Auto Auction is one of Bill Fenton Motorsports' sponsors, and they are located in nearby East Windsor, CT. Lamb plans to attend an auction prior to the start of the race weekend.
