Burrows a Fast Fourth on Iowa KONI Challenge Grid
Newton, IA (10 August, 2008)-- Defending KONI Challenge Champions Trevor Hopwood and Adam Burrows will start Sunday's Iowa 250 at Iowa Speedway from fourth on the ST class grid in the No. 76 Fischer Skis Compass360 Racing Acura TSX after Burrows set a fast lap time of 51.340-seconds on the tight 1.3-mile infield road circuit based on the 7/8th mile oval in Newton, Iowa.
Burrows, who with Hopwood led the 2007 Iowa race on the way to a podium finish, are looking to close the deal on Sunday after taking a big win in the last round of KONI competition at Watkins Glen.
While a second row start is nothing to sneeze at, Burrows admitted to being a little disappointed about coming up just .095 of a second short of the pole after the duo were quickest for much of the unofficial practice day on Saturday.
"It would have been nice to take the pole, but we know we've got a really fast car and we're really looking forward to the race tonight," said Burrows. "Obviously this is a short lap but it is still remarkable how close everyone is time-wise up front. The Compass360 guys have done a great job with the car, we rolled off the truck fast and we've barely touched it this weekend to make any changes. Hopefully we can just stay out of anyone else's trouble and get back on the podium tonight."
After getting an early start to the day with a 7:00 AM practice session, the KONI Challenge paddock will cool their heels and take in the USAC Silver Crown action on the oval before preparing to race when the green flag flies at 5:00 PM.
