Michael Shank Racing's Ozz Negri Takes Podium at Homestead in KONI Debut; Leads race in first taste of KONI action

(Homestead, FL) 15 March 2009- A hearty round of applause was audible over the roar of the racing engines as Michael Shank Racing driver Ozz Negri emerged from the No. 59 Rehagen Racing Products.com Ford Mustang GT during the Grand-Am Fan Appreciation 200 on Sunday.

And with good reason-the hotshoe had made quite the impression in his Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge debut, and the local driver had a healthy contingent of friends and family on hand to see it first hand.

After he lead the Mustang contingent with his run to 4th in qualifying, Negri moved up steadily at the start of the 2.5-hour race to move into the lead just 13 laps into the event. Learning more about the Ford Mustang's habits every lap around the 2.25-mile south Florida circuit, Negri held station up front as he grew his lead to several seconds before turning the machine over to co-driver Kenny Wilden on lap 35.

The strong start kept going as co-driver and former Michael Shank Racing driver Kenny Wilden took the controls, moving up from as far back as 9th in the order to score 3rd place at the checkered flag.

"That was a lot of fun, I truly enjoyed myself out there," said Negri. "The car was pretty good but I was just saving it as much as I could for Kenny. We were really consistent-just running within a tenth lap after lap so the Rehagan guys had a good set up today, no question. They called a good strategy and Kenny did a great job to come home third today. I want to thank the team, because this was a great opportunity and I am glad we were able to get it up front for them and it was great to do it with so many friends and family here with me today."

"Ozz" will be racing at Homestead again as part of the Championship Weekend on October 8-10, as Michael Shank Racing returns to Rolex race action on April 24-5 at Virginia International Raceway.
