Burrows and Hopwood Ready for Homestead; /fixch 9th row starting spot for Mini at Miami
(13 March 2008)--The No. 198 Fischer Ski MINI Cooper S of Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood will start from 17th on the Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge ST class grid after Hopwood posted a lap of 1:34.993 seconds at Homestead Miami Speedway for Saturday's 2.5-hour ST class race at the Grand Am Fan Appreciation weekend.
While the duo were looking for more out of the 15-minute qualifying session, the qualifying result will see the two get a chance to make the most of the infield section to move up as the race gets started. The race weekend is expected to see a banner crowd on hand as Homestead has swung the doors open for South Florida race fans to visit the track free of charge, and the 2007 KONI Champs are hoping to be part of a good show for them.
"I think there was a little bit more left in the car in qualifying, but we're really focused on having something we can race with deep in our tire run," said Hopwood. "Thanks to the RSR guys for a great car, the Mini is set up great. Randy and Jade did a great job in qualifying as well. Hopefully we can make up some spots in the infield and use the draft on the oval. But it's great to be down here in this weather back racing again with the RSR guys, so we're just enjoying this as much as possible and looking forward to a fun race tomorrow."
Saturday's race is scheduled to take the green flag at 2:30 PM ET.
