TMS BMW Team Defends Titles in Daytona

Turner Motorsport drivers and crew are geared up to defend their multiple 2006 championships starting with this week's opening round of the 2007 Koni Challenge. Last year's champions are prepared for this Friday's race at Daytona Speedway in Florida with the same cars, and much of the driver line-up, that won the Driver's and Team's Championships in the GS and ST classes last year.

The ST champs from last season are moving up to the higher-horsepower GS class for the 2007 season. Will Turner and Don Salama have been co-driving a BMW 330i in the ST class since 2004. They've racked up twelve podium finishes and twenty-one top ten finishes in that time. With their experience -- both have been racing BMWs since the early 1990s -- the #97 H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust BMW M3 should be one of the front-runners all season long.

Will Turner, pilot and team owner, #97 H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust BMW M3 (GS): "There are over 100 cars entered for the Koni Challenge race which is more than any other year we've raced here. Traffic is obviously something we're going to have to contend with for the entire three hours. But thankfully, our competitors will too. Our game plan and our team have come up big in the past and I think their expertise will be a deciding factor in this race."

The #96 Motul Lubricants/Gleason Insurance BMW M3 has a familiar driving line-up for 2007: Bill Auberlen and Chris Gleason. The pair earned two wins in 2006 and finished third in the Driver Championship. Turner Motorsport is the only team in Grand-Am Cup to win with the BMW E46 M3 and Auberlen has the most -- 7 since 2005. In addition, both drivers have enormous success at Daytona. In the 2006 Daytona race they finished in second-place.

Bill Auberlen, pilot, #96 Motul Lubricants/Gleason Insurance BMW M3 (GS): "It's great to be back for another season with Turner Motorsport. We've done great things together in the past and I have no doubts that great things will come about in 2007 also. But for Daytona, it's not usually suited to the BMWs because the straights are so long. We're racing a sedan, basically, against sleeker sports cars like the Mustangs and Porsches, which also happen to have more horsepower. But the TMS M3's handling and braking make up ground through the infield section. It's a pretty long race though -- 3 hours -- so anything can happen." #95 B&M Shifters/Piloti Driving Shoes BMW 330i

Joining the team for 2007 are Rookie-of-the-Year contenders Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood. They will be steering the #95 B&M Shifters/Piloti Driving Shoes BMW 330i in the ST class. Burrows and Hopwood are past champions in SCCA Club Racing and previous winners at Daytona.

Adam Burrows, pilot, #95 B&M Shifters/Piloti Driving Shoes BMW 330i: "Trevor and I are looking forward to Daytona with great anticipation. After all, it's the first race of the season and, of course, Daytona, a track with a tremendous amount of heritage. Not to mention the large and talented field that will be competing in this year's opening round of the Koni Challenge. We are fortunate to be taking on this challenge with Turner Motorsport, a team that has the equipment and depth of experience to guide us through our initiation."
