Ryan Pilla, Driver of the Car Doctor World/HiDefSpex Performance Optics Mustang GT, Secures Pole in First Grand-Am Cup Race for 2006 at Daytona
Bridgehampton, New York January 27, 2006 -- In his very first qualifying session competing in the Grand American Road Racing Series, Ryan Pilla, Driver of the No. 55 Car Doctor World/HiDefSpex Performance Optics Mustang GT, put his Ford Powered rocket on the pole of the Grand Am Cup 200 at Daytona. The blistering lap of 2:02.371 (104.731mph) provided the opportunity to lead 88 cars to the green flag this afternoon.
"This was my first time around Daytona in a Grand-Am Cup event. To lay down a time like that and take the pole for our maiden voyage was a real thrill. To lay that down at Daytona was a dream. Hyper-Sport put a stout ride under me. We freed the car up a lot so it was scary loose but I decided that I would walk the fine line of limit. The car was extremely good but a serious handful. I think I was a bit zealous with the set up but it paid off," commented Ryan after the session was over.
