Newly Engaged Bourdais to Do Double Duty in Grand Am and Rolex 24

2004 and 2005 Champ Car World Series Champion Sebastien Bourdais will perform double-duty in this weekend's Rolex 24 of Daytona. The driver of the No. 1 McDonald's Newman/Haas race car will participate in both the Grand Am Cup 200 event on Friday, January 27 and the 44th Rolex 24 at Daytona which will begin at 12 noon ET on Saturday.

As a reward for earning his second consecutive Champ Car title, Ford Motor Company arranged an opportunity for Bourdais and his father Patrick to compete in the Grand Am race as teammates. It was announced today that Bourdais will also pilot a Ford-powered machine in the 24 hour event with teammates Raul Boesel, a former Champ Car driver, and BJ Zacharias.

Qualifying for the 24 hour event will take place from 3:45-4:00 p.m. ET today while Grand Am qualifying will begin at 5:00 p.m. today. SPEED TV will televise the start and finish as well as the middle stage of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona live beginning at 12 noon ET Saturday.

Bourdais proposed to longtime girlfriend Claire Ragot on New Year's Eve. The two will wed in France on May 6.
