BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 9, 2004) - Andy Brumbaugh and Andy Lally campaigned their Team Lexus IS 300 to their second consecutive top-five finish with a fifth in Saturday's Barber 250 Grand-Am Cup race at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alab.

Brumbaugh and Lally capped a strong weekend showing in their #3 Lexus IS 300 with their top-five effort and were followed by Team Lexus teammates Chuck Goldsborough and Ian James in seventh.

The weekend's activities started off on a great note with the #3 Lexus rolling off the transporter fast, registering the quickest times in each of the first two Sport Touring practices on Friday. While falling off slightly in qualifying, Brumbaugh qualified the car sixth, three spots ahead of Goldsborough's #2 Lexus IS 300 in ninth.

In the race, the steady fifth-place showing earned Brumbaugh and Lally the fourth top-five finish of the season for the #3 Lexus. For Goldsborough and James, their solid seventh-place result halted a string of three straight finishes outside of the top 10 for the #2 car since the team won at Mont Tremblant and followed that up with a second place at Watkins Glen.

In team points, the #2 Lexus IS 300 is firmly secured in sixth-place in the title chase and is still in contention for an overall top-five finish. The #3 Lexus IS 300 has now moved up to ninth overall, but could climb up to as high as seventh with a strong showing at the season-ending Lexus Grand American Champions Weekend at the California Speedway.

The Barber 250 Grand Am Cup race can be seen on a tape-delayed basis, Oct. 24 at 3:00 p.m. eastern on SPEED Channel.

The Grand Am Cup series closes out is 2004 campaign at the Lexus Grand American Champions Weekend at the California Speedway, Oct. 29-31. The Saturday race will be shown on a tape-delayed basis on SPEED, Nov. 7 at 5:00 p.m. eastern. The 10th and final round of the Grand Am Cup will be run in conjunction with the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series at Fontana.
