LEEDS, AL (9 April 2010)--Trevor Hopwood will start Saturday's Barber 250 from 17th on the grid after setting a fast lap time of 1:44.235-seconds in qualifying at Barber Motorsports Park on Friday afternoon.

The Kia Motorsports program has gained momentum as the entry prepares for a third GRAND-AM race start close to home for both Kinetic Motorsports and the all-new Kia plant just down the road on the border with Georgia. The momentum was clear as the sister Kia made a run to the top-ten in qualifying.

Hopwood, will turn the No. 12 Kia Motors/Infinity Audio Kia Forte Koup over to fellow champion Adam Burrows, will target another long race day on Saturday as the duo chase a third consecutive race finish with the Street Tuner (ST) class machine.

"Kinetic has improved the car every time we've gone out," said Hopwood, who staged a mammoth come-back drive in the GRAND-AM race at barber Park last year. "In qualifying, had a bit of a push from the apex to track out so I wasn't able to get back to full power as quickly as I wanted to. So our time suffered a little bit there compared to the No. 10 car, but we're solidly in the field, and we can hopefully move up in the race and we'll just look for another finish tomorrow."
