Burrows and Hopwood Go Three for Three for Kia

LEEDS, AL (10 April 2010)--2007 GRAND-AM Continental Sports Car Challenge Champions Trevor Hopwood and Adam Burrows made it three GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race finishes in a row as the duo finished the Barber 200 in 15th place with the No. 12 Kia Motors/Infinity Audio Kia Forte Koup for Kinetic Motorsports. The result is the best finish to date for the two with the Kia machine as the program continues to grow momentum.

Hopwood opened up the race from behind the wheel before turning the machine over to Burrows in the combined-class race, which boasted over 60 runners.

"We were still in the mindset of getting as much data and experience with this Kia Koup as possible, but the car was a lot more racey than it's been yet this season so it was really encouraging," said Hopwood. "We had a pretty big push with the car, particularly power-down, it would just not turn today. I was just hanging on because the conditions were tough. But it was another big step forward with the car so I was really encouraged."

The two Kinetic Kia Koups made the most of what was a sort of home race, as the two fastest laps from the team entries were but one tenth apart.

"We had some problems with the car overheating--the moment I got behind someone I would get the alarms going so that made it a bit of a challenge," said Burrows, who also struggled with a recalcitrant fourth gear and a balky gearbox. "That cost us some track position compared to the 10 car, but our times were very close, so I think the whole Kinetic crew should be happy with the step forward this weekend. Congrats to Andy and Nic on getting Kia a first top-10, and now we are just looking to get to VIR and keep getting stronger."

The two will head East to visit the SRF 25th Anniversary Event at Road Atlanta on Sunday and reunite with the Motion Dynamics crew and several other familiar faces in the SRF paddock.
