Becky Swafford to Debut in GrandAm Cup for Compass360 Racing
California native Becky Swafford has logged a lot of track time in the past 5 years, but her first priority was the completion of her economics and financial management Degrees from the University of California. With that goal now in sight, Becky has announced her entry in pro racing as she enters the GrandAm Cup events at Fontana and Laguna Seca. Becky will pilot the Compass360 BMW Z3 Coupe in both events and hopes that her successes will lead to further opportunities.
" When I began racing with SCCA I had aspirations to succeed and move on to bigger things. Now is the most opportune time to make my professional debut and I couldn't be more excited." said Swafford. "In meeting with Karl, Ian and the crew from Compass360 at Daytona it became clear to me they would be the perfect fit. Their cars have the ability to be on the podium with the right drivers and everyone on the team is part of the family."
Becky has assembled an impressive resume in West Coast racing circle and is a certified instructor with both the SCCA and NASA. An active karter even today, she was twice awarded Rookie of the Year honors in separate organizations. Becky actually built her first race car, a Mazda RX7 at age 17.
Becky is a frequent and respected coach in sedans and open wheel series and has numerous podiums in west coast endurance racing events. "I really enjoy teaching and coaching, but I love racing even more and now is the time to prove my abilities. I am looking forward to these two races a lot."
The Fontana event is scheduled for April 1 & 2, and the Laguna Seca race is scheduled for April 29 & 30. Both events will be televised on Speed at a time to be announced at a later date.
