COLUMBIA, SC (April 12, 2006) -- Roar Racing, a division of NRG Motorsports Management, has signed Andy Brumbaugh for the full Grand-Am Cup season. Brumbaugh and Susan Addison of Seneca, SC will co-drive the team's #26 Mazda RX-8, sponsored by Performance Coaching, in the ST class of Grand-Am Cup.
Greenville, NC based Roar Racing will start their season in April at Virginia International Raceway. They are looking for a strong debut performance from the #26 car to show what they have in store for the competition after a full winter of preparation and development.
"I have known and watched Andy for some time," said team owner Nick Gurucharri. "I don't know of anyone in the Grand-Am paddock who works harder on his career than Andy. He is both very fast as well as a true professional. I am thrilled to have him setting the pace for our team."
"I am very excited about the 2006 season," said Andy. "We recently went testing and I feel the Roar Racing team is a great new start-up. The car has a great platform and I think the pairing of myself and Susan will surprise a few people. VIR is a great place to race, especially with 100 cars entered. I haven't been this excited about a race in a long time."
Brumbaugh is a multi-time champion in karting and open wheel racing and was one of the two American finalists to test for the Porsche junior team in Germany. This is his third season of Grand-Am competition having raced Porsche's and Lexus' in both the Rolex and Grand-Am Cup divisions. Andy is also a senior business major at The University of South Carolina.
