Huntingdon Valley, PA, May 31, 2001: When he's not jetting between classes at the local university, 18 year-old Tallahassee, Florida resident, Davy Cook, is busy tearing up the Barber Dodge Pro Series circuit in his open-wheeled, CODi, Inc./Reynard Dodge. For the Mid-Ohio round of the Grand Am Cup Street Stock Series, Cook will join forces with Villaconn BMW Motorsports and their Z3 Coupe effort.
"Davy raced with us during the SCCA's Longest Night 24 Hours at Moroso last winter and made a big impression on us," comments fellow Skip Barber graduate and Villaconn driver, Ray Shaffer. "He's methodical in his approach and very quick."
Cook scored his first pole position in the Barber Pro Series during the Grand Am weekend in Lime Rock Park. In doing so, he showed his heels to series regulars including 2000 Barber-CART Rookie of the Year, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Matt Plumb and Sepp Koster.
CODi, Inc. sponsors Davy's racing effort. Since 1990, CODi, Inc. has established itself as the largest United States manufacturer dedicated solely to the production of notebook carrying cases. They can be found on the world wide web at www.codidirect.com.
Returning to action on the 2.4 mile/15 turn circuit will be Villaconn drivers, Matt Connolly, Jeff Trask, Bransen Patch, Gregory White and Ray Shaffer. The team plans to enter and race three BMW Z3 Coupes.
The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was opened in 1962 and is sprawled out over 330 beautiful acres of rolling Ohio countryside. Billed as "The Most Competitive in The US" - Mid-Ohio celebrates its 40th year of competition with a full slate of sportscar action set for June 8th through the 10th.
