James Weaver held a 28-lap lead 19 hours into Sunday's 39th running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, looking to give Dyson Racing its third overall victory in the American endurance classic in five years.

However, the team of Weaver, Butch Leitzinger and Andy Wallace only had to look back to the 2000 classic when they brought a similar lead into the morning hours, only to lose it two hours shy of the finish.

Running second overall and first in the GTS class was the Corvette of Chris Kneifel, Ron Fellows, Frank Freon and Johnny O'Connell, with their team car of Dale Earnhardt, Andy Pilgrim, Kelly Collins and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fourth overall and second in class.

The White Lightning/Petersen Motorsports Porsche was third overall and first in GT, with the JET Motorsports BMW M-3 of Toney Jennings, Terry Borcheller, Boris Said and Hans Stuck retired from the event with a burned piston after dominating the class through the opening 17 hours.

Other class leaders were the Archangel Motorsports Nissan Lola in SRP II, and the Hamilton Safe Camaro driven by Dick Greer in American GT.
