Despite recent reports that Michelotto have severed their links with the Ferrari 333SP, they are still building new versions of the car that was first raced in 1994 and remains competitive in the Grand-Am Championship.

John McLoughlin, team manager of Risi, has ordered a new chassis for Daytona and that will be driven by Ralf Kelleners and, possibly, Allan McNish who drove the Risi Ferrari to second place in 1999. McNish is awaiting a decision from Toyota, for whom he will test in Formula One next year, which races he will be allowed to contest and hopes to have a decision by Christmas.

McLoughlin says that he would consider running the car in the American Le Mans Series next season if the car was more competitive and the costs were lower. "I would prefer to do the ALMS, but it is more expensive and you would have to be so much more competitive," said McLoughlin last week.
