Daytona Speedway 6th- February 2000 - Riley & Scott celebrated a strong performance at the Daytona 24 Hour Race held at Daytona Speedway this weekend, with the Riley & Scott MKIII sports car winning the Sports Racer class with Dyson Racing and finishing 4th overall. In addition, the pair of GM Racing Cadillac Northstar LMP Prototypes built by Riley & Scott finished second and third in class, 13th and 14th place overall.

The Riley & Scott MKIII racer of Dyson Racing, winner of the 1999 event took pole for this year's race and quickly took a strong lead, which the team held for the majority of the race - over 22 hours and seven laps ahead of the nearest competitor, which seemed to be unassailable. An engine problem led to the team slowing their pace in order to reach the end of the race, and as they nursed the car home a trio of Chrysler Dodge Vipers were able to overtake and drop the car down to fourth position.

The GM Racing Cadillac Northstar LMP Prototypes made their race debut at Daytona 24 Hour race, in preparation for the blue riband event of endurance racing - 24 Hours of Le Mans. Both cars proved to have the pace and durability for the long distance event. Bob Riley, President, Riley & Scott, was delighted with the results, commenting, "It's been a great day for Riley and Scott. We couldn't have asked for better performances. The Cadillac results are particularly pleasing for us, as we have been working with GM Racing for over 2 and a half years on this project and this was the first event in our race programme"
