DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 8, 2001) - Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series officials announced today that penalties have been accessed against the Orbit Racing team and one of its drivers for violating regulations at the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Regulations for the Rolex 24 At Daytona state that a maximum of four drivers may be used during the race, however five drivers where used in the #43 Orbit Racing team's Porsche GT3 RS. Officials have penalized both the team and fifth driver, Tony Kester, for the infraction. Orbit Racing lost 15 points in the Team Owner Championship standings and was fined $2,500. Kester was also fined $2,500 for entering a car he was not listed to drive.

The #43 car finished seventh overall and fourth in the GT class at the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The other four drivers used in the car were NASCAR-driver Kyle Petty, Gian Luigi Butoni, Leo Hindery and Peter Baron. A second Orbit Racing car also ran in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The #42 car finished 77th overall and 33rd in the GT class. Kester was listed with #42 car on the drivers' roster.

Orbit Racing is owned by Rodger Hawley of Jupiter, Fla.
