TRG's Potter and Stanton Looking for Breakout Race at Montreal

Petaluma, Calif., (August 24, 2009) - TRG's John Potter and Craig Stanton are ready to take on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada for round 11 of the Grand-Am Rolex Series.

The 2.7-mile, 15-turn Gilles Villeneuve island circuit offers the Grand-Am competitors a first class park setting road course to test their mettle.

John Potter will take to the track for the first time in his No. 65 Magnus Racing/TRG Porsche GT3. Teamed with sports car veteran Craig Stanton the duo have shown steady improvement all season and could see the Canadian circuit be their breakout venue.

"I have never been there before, but I hear good things," Potter said. "After racing at Three Rivers in KONI last week I am looking forward to seeing the Canadian fans fill the stands again. TRG has a run every race at the circuit and Andy Lally won the first time there, so they have lots of video and data that I have been studying. One thing I like about driving with Craig is that his instruction will be very helpful when we get there. Also, I should be able to get a good amount of time in the car."

Stanton likes the island circuit and is looking forward to the weekend.

"I like Montreal, they have some great race fans," Stanton said. "The track has a lot of history. I think we will have a really good car there. John is ready to go and the TRG guys will have a good setup on the car for us to start with. I am going to go up early and get the lay of the land and study the nuances of the track. The track is a lot like a street circuit. It has crowns in the road and about two feet of grass on either side. It reminds me of Long Beach. You definitely do not want to go off. Some of the turns you have to run like a motocross track to get a good launch off the turns. It will be a dog fight, the Mazdas will be strong as well as the Pontiacs. I think the guys who negotiate the DP traffic the best will have the best result.

Kevin Buckler, TRG team owner, has a lot of confidence in Potter and Stanton.

"John and Craig have steadily impressed all of us this season," Buckler said. "They have consistently gotten faster and faster and were able to lead a lot of laps at Watkins Glen. They have been on the cusp of a podium finish and this could be the weekend. John has a terrific approach and the tools behind the wheel and Craig brings a veteran approach that pays off at the end. I am looking for big things this weekend."
