4 Cars, 3 Series, 2 Canadian Provinces, 1 Goal for Farnbacher Loles Racing this Weekend
This weekend Farnbacher Loles Racing will head north of the border into Canada to campaign two Porsche GT3 Cups in the Grand-Am Rolex Series, one Porsche GT3 RSR in the American Le Mans Series, and one Porsche GT3 Cup in the Patron GT3 Challenge. Team Drivers Leh Keen, Eric Lux, and Bryan Sellers will be racing in Montreal, Quebec at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in the Gran-Am Rolex Series while Wolf Henzler and Darrell Carlisle will be competing at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario in the ALMS and the Patron GT3 Challenge, respectively. Dirk Werner will be the "Ironman" of the weekend. Werner will be co-driving the Farnbacher Loles Racing #87 GT3 Cup with Leh Keen in the Grand-Am event on Saturday, as well as the Farnbacher Loles Racing #87 GT3 RSR with Wolf Henzler in the ALMS event on Sunday.
Farnbacher Loles Racing Team Principal, Gregory Loles is looking forward to watching his team compete in multiple series this weekend. "All three teams are ready for this weekend's challenge, and it should be very exciting to watch," Loles said. "Dirk is ready to pull double duty, Leh, Eric, and Bryan are excited to race the streets in Montreal, Wolf is always fast at Mosport, and Darrell is hoping to capitalize on the momentum he's built with the win at Road America. It's never easy to run multiple series on the same weekend and with both events in Canada, it makes it that much more of a challenge. We've been planning for this weekend for months now, and I have the utmost confidence that we'll be ready."
Grand-Am: Farnbacher Loles Racing brings points lead to Montreal
With only three rounds remaining in the 2009 Grand-Am Series, Farnbacher Loles Racing will be bringing a two-car effort to the Montreal 200 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend. After a strong second place finish at Watkins Glen earlier this month, Leh Keen and Dirk Werner hold a 31 point lead in the Rolex Series Championship, and are looking forward to another race together in the #87 Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche GT3 Cup.
"Montreal is my favorite race of the year," Keen of Charleston, SC said. "Last year we almost won, but so did a lot of other guys with the fuel issue happening. So, a lot of teams are coming back with a vengeance. I am a huge fan of F1 so it's always awesome to drive on an F1 circuit. With the season we have had so far, Dirk and I look forward to every race. With most of our #87 crew guys being Canadian, we both want to go all out and get the win for the guys."
Dirk Werner of Kissenbruck, Germany is also motivated to perform at his crew's home track.
"This will be a special race for the team since this is the home race for our Canadian mechanics," Werner said. "The track and the whole venue has a great atmosphere and I like driving this track a lot. The last two years we were so close to winning this race and both times we lost it in the last lap, so we know we have a good car for being fast on this track. I'm highly motivated not only for winning this race but also to take home some good points."
In 2008, Eric Lux of Jacksonville, FL qualified the #86 Farnbacher Loles Racing Porsche GT3 Cup in pole position and along with Keen and Werner, was in the top two finishing Porsches. This year, Lux is once again partnered with Bryan Sellers of Centerville, OH in the #86. Earlier this season, Lux and Sellers went on to score a third place finish at the rain soaked event at the New Jersey Motorsports Park and are hoping to repeat their podium performance In Montreal.
"Last season the Farnbacher Loles team gave me a great car for Montreal," Lux said. "The team has a great setup for the circuit and I am hoping that the #86 will be able to repeat the pole position. We came very close to a win last time we raced at the circuit; I believe we will be at the front of the pack again!"
Sellers is excited to be back with Farnbacher Loles Racing at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
"I am extremely honored to be invited back to race with Farnbacher Loles for the second time this season. The last time Eric Lux and I drove together we were able to bring the car home on the podium, hopefully we will be able to repeat this feat at Montreal. There is no question in my mind that the team will prepare the car for winning form. I love Montreal. It is a great track and an even better event. I cannot wait to get started."
