Scott Pruett/Memo Rojas and the No.01 TELMEX Lexus Team
Double Duty: Pruett will race in the No.01 TELMEX CGRFS Lexus for the Rolex Grand-Am Series event on Friday (Aug. 1) and will navigate CGRFS' No.40 Fastenal Dodge in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) on Saturday (Aug. 2). This weekend marks Pruett's third double-duty weekend in the 2008 season, as he previously raced the Grand-Am and NNS events in Mexico City in April and the Grand-Am and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) races at Mid-Ohio and Infineon Raceway in June. Last year at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (CGV), Pruett managed a double-duty weekend with the No.41 CGRFS Dodge and scored a top-15 finish (14th) in NNS competition during his first visit to Montreal.
Montreal Rewind: During last year's inaugural Rolex Series event at CGV, Pruett and Rojas finished fifth after running as high as third in the event. The duo avoided much of the carnage and five cautions throughout the 400k event and scored their ninth top-five finish in the first 11 races of the 2007 season.
Montreal Barrier: Pruett and Rojas have broken winless barriers in the past two Rolex Series events at Daytona International Speedway's summer sprint race (July 3) and Barber Motorsports Park (July 20) as they scored their first wins at both events in the team's five-year history. The team will look to tally their first victory at Montreal this weekend as CGV and Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, are the only venues on the 2008 circuit at which the team has not won.
Indicates Improvement: Although Pruett and Rojas led the driver and team championship by 11 points last year entering the race at Montreal, they have shown substantial improvement this year as they enter the race with a 60-point advantage in the championship. Also, the duo has led laps in all nine of nine events this season. Last year, the duo led laps in five of the first 10 races when entering Montreal.
Continuing the Consistency: Pruett and Rojas continue to add to the No.01 TELMEX car's two-year streak of scoring top-10 finishing positions and completing every lap of each race (since June 29, 2006).
Atop the Standings: Pruett and Rojas will enter Friday's event at CGV with their largest points margin all season (60) over the No.99 car as the TELMEX team continues to hold the championship points lead into Race #10. The TELMEX duo has entered each race this season as the points leader and has led 494 laps of 1,497 total laps run this season.
No.01 TELMEX: Eight previous race starts. Five wins, Homestead-Miami, VIR, Watkins Glen Six-Hour, Daytona 250 and Barber (2008). One pole position, Mexico City (2008)
