August 4, 2001--Qualifying activities commenced today in round 8 of the Rolex Grand American Road Racing Series. Approximately 16 cars set out to qualify in the 20-minute session that began at 11:40 am, Saturday. Those qualifying in this session were Sports Racer Prototypes (SRP), SRP II's, and the GTS class.

Taking the helm of the #6 Miracle Motorsports/Serta Mattress Ford powered Riley and Scott, was Brent Sherman (N. Barrington, IL). Brent posted a fast lap time of 1:02.706, an average lap speed of 87.322 mph. This time is a mere 2.5 seconds off of the pole set by Dorsey Schroeder in the #20 Dyson Racing Ford. The time set for the pole position was a 0:59.290, an average speed of 92.353 mph.

"We are overall very pleased with the way things have gone so far this weekend," stated John Macaluso, team owner. "We needed to change fifth gear, apparently it was mismarked, and we ended up going a little bit backwards rather than gaining speed. We have the proper gear in now and look forward to a good race tomorrow."

The Miracle Motorsports/Serta Mattress entry is positioned in 6th place on the starting grid for tomorrow's running of Le Grand Prix De Trois Rivieres. This event will be televised live by the Speedvision Network at 3 pm Eastern Time on Sunday, August 5.
